Dr. Meera Raghavan, Dr. Ankit Sharma

Abstract

Adolescence is a critical period of physical, psychological, and social development. During this stage, young individuals face multiple challenges, including hormonal changes, social pressures, and evolving self-identity. Gynecologic issues, such as menstrual irregularities, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), and dysmenorrhea, can have a profound impact on mental health, often exacerbating anxiety, depression, and body image concerns. This paper explores the intersection of gynecologic issues and adolescent mental health, highlighting the underlying mechanisms, challenges in clinical practice, and potential interventions to improve holistic well-being. The review emphasizes the importance of integrated care approaches that address both physical and mental health needs in adolescent girls, fostering resilience, awareness, and early intervention.

KEYWORDS: Adolescent mental health, gynecologic issues, menstrual health, PCOS, dysmenorrhea, anxiety, depression, holistic care, early intervention.
