Abstract

The increasing threat of climate change and environmental degradation has catalyzed a critical need for sustainable practices across all sectors—including healthcare. Nursing, as a frontline discipline within healthcare, plays a pivotal role in embedding sustainability into day-to-day operations. This paper explores the role of green innovations in nursing practice and how they contribute to the resilience and sustainability of healthcare systems. Emphasis is placed on sustainable waste management, eco-friendly materials, energy-efficient clinical practices, and environmental education for nurses. The discussion also covers existing challenges, future opportunities, and strategic recommendations for embedding green practices in nursing education and institutional policies. The integration of sustainability into nursing is not merely an environmental imperative but a necessary evolution toward healthcare systems that are more adaptive, ethical, and resilient in a rapidly changing world.
