Abstract

ABSTRACT

The modern digital landscape is increasingly threatened by sophisticated cyberattacks, insider threats, and complex multi-cloud environments. Traditional perimeter-based security models are no longer adequate to protect sensitive assets. Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) has emerged as a robust cybersecurity framework that emphasizes “never trust, always verify” principles. This paper explores the evolution to Zero Trust Architecture 2.0 (ZTA 2.0) and its integration with Identity-First Security (IFS) approaches, highlighting how identity-centric controls strengthen security postures in heterogeneous environments. The study examines core components, deployment strategies, benefits, challenges, and emerging technologies supporting ZTA 2.0 and IFS. Additionally, the paper discusses practical implementations in enterprises and provides a roadmap for future research.
