Automation And Robotics-Enabled Transformation in Modern Construction Practices for Enhanced Productivity, Safety, And Sustainability
Abstract
Automation and robotics have emerged as transformative technologies in the construction industry, offering unprecedented improvements in productivity, safety, cost efficiency, and quality. This paper examines the evolving landscape of automated and robotic construction systems, including autonomous machinery, drones, 3D printing robots, artificial intelligence-driven equipment, and robotic inspection tools. It explores their applications throughout various project phases such as surveying, material handling, bricklaying, concrete printing, site monitoring, and facility management. Moreover, the study reviews the technological advancements, implementation challenges, and the future potential of robotics in construction. The findings indicate that as construction projects become more complex, automation and robotics will play a critical role in improving decision-making, reducing risks, and advancing sustainable development. The paper concludes that integrating intelligent robotics with digital technologies such as BIM, IoT, and AI will redefine the future of the global construction industry.
